Veterinary social work services resume

Veterinary social work services have now resumed at the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre, with the return of veterinary social worker Erin Wasson.

As in the past, Wasson provides the following services to VMC clients during regular office hours: 

  • communication support between the veterinary team and clients
  • support with quality of life decision-making
  • grief and loss/euthanasia support
  • multidisciplinary animal welfare calls
  • attending to client and client family health issues/concerns
  • caregiver fatigue and support after discharge
  • farm stress
  • supporting staff and clients during mandatory animal welfare complaint processes
  • cross-reporting/safety planning where there is evidence of intimate partner/gender-based violence, child welfare, or public health issues

After-hours veterinary social work services are not available at this time. Where emergent support is needed, the following services are available after hours:

  • Saskatoon's Royal University Hospital Emergency Dept (mental health team)
