VMC welcomes new additions to hospital's senior leadership team
The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) is welcoming several new members to its senior leadership team.
Dr. Steve Manning, associate dean of clinical programs at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), announced three new members of the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre's senior leadership team in early December.
While two employees are taking on existing directors' roles for health services and quality and operations, the VMC has created a new role: a chief operations officer (COO) who will focus on managing the hospital’s operations as well as its finances in collaboration with the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM).
Tamara (Tammy) Lucas will become the hospital's new chief operating officer on January 3. Before accepting her new role at the VMC, Lucas was part of the Saskatchewan Health Authority's leadership team. She served as director of quality and safety for Saskatoon with the departments of patient safety, client concerns, occupational health and safety, and quality improvement. Lucas has worked in human health care for 22 years as a front-line nurse, clinical nursing instructor and manager. She brings years of experience in leadership and system improvement as well as patient and staff safety.
Janette Boden became director of quality and operations at the VMC on Dec. 5. Before joining the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre, Boden served as manager of process effectiveness with ConnectionPoint on the USask campus for six years. She has spent several years providing management consulting services to a variety of industries and organizations.
Deanne Kaar became the VMC's new director of health services on Dec. 12. Before joining the VMC, Kaar spent 16 years with the SHA. Her previous roles include director of primary health care as well as a frontline staff member and manager with the SHA's Mental Health and Addiction Services. Kaar has years of experience in leadership, knowledge in delivering primary care services, and a commitment to providing the best possible care to patients.
