Referring veterinarians: reminders about VMC services

The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) clinical team has gathered together a few reminders to pass on to the hospital's referring veterinarians and veterinary clinics.

The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre's clinical team has a few reminders to pass on to the hospital's valued referring veterinarians and veterinary clinics. The VMC greatly appreciates your assistance in helping to communicate this information to your clients.

  • The VMC does not offer out-patient diagnostic services. Once a patient is referred to the veterinary teaching hospital, the VMC clinical team assesses the patient, then recommends diagnostic services based on the team's assessment.
  • The VMC cannot guarantee same-day diagnostic services. Due to high demand for diagnostic services and limited staff at the VMC, it may take at least several days or longer before a diagnostic test can be conducted on a patient. Please alert your clients of the potential delay in booking diagnostic procedures at the VMC.
  • The VMC's clinical team doesn't includes specialists in neurology or cardiology. Small animal patients with neurologic- or heart-related issues will be referred to a member of the VMC's small animal internal medicine team.

Thanks very much for your co-operation. If you have any questions or need further information about the VMC's referral services, please contact vmc.info@usask.ca
