About

The WCVM Field Service offers on-site veterinary care to animal owners and livestock producers who live in a 80-kilometre radius around the city of Saskatoon, Sask. The Field Service’s vehicles are equipped to serve as fully-equipped, mobile veterinary clinics for our ruminant and equine field service clinical teams. 

Ruminant Field Service

Dairy and Beef

The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre's Ruminant Field Service offers on-farm primary and emergency patient care as well as herd health visits.

Dairy production and beef cattle production services include: 

  • herd health visits for cow-calf health management
  • nutritional consultations
  • reproduction management and services — ultrasound examinations, bull breeding soundness evaluations, pregnancy examinations, artificial insemination and embryo transfer
  • surgeries — caesarean sections, wound management, hernia repairs
  • lameness diagnosis and therapy
  • infectious disease control programs
  • food safety consultation
  • disease investigations

Equine Field Service

The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre's Equine Field Service offers on-farm primary and emergency patient care as well as preventive health care programs to horses within the Saskatoon area.

The WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre's clinical team members are dedicated, compassionate people with specialized training and a diverse range of experiences. In addition to providing our patients with high-quality care and support, we are helping to train Western Canada's next generation of veterinary professionals.
