Preventive dental care is an essential part of equine health management. Poor dental health can lead to colic, weight loss and other health issues that can interfere with your horse's performance.

Through regular check ups, horse owners can prevent minor oral health problems from becoming serious conditions that require emergency care.

Both the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre's Large Animal Clinic and Field Service clinical teams provide a range of dental-related services to their equine patients: 

  • comprehensive oral examinations
  • regular teeth floating (PowerFloat™)
  • tooth extraction
  • cap removal and wolf tooth removal
  • advanced medical imaging for detection of dental issues
  • periodontal treatments
