Clinical behaviour service available at VMC
Do you have clients who are facing challenging behaviour issues with their animals? A referral to the clinical behaviour service at the WCVM Veterinary Medical Centre may be a viable option for your patients.
The service is operated by Dr. Karen Machin (DVM, PhD), who provides a range of clinical behaviour services for companion animals including exotic pets and horses. She's excited to have more time to dedicate to clinical behaviour cases at the VMC and is open to referrals.
In addition to her longtime role as an associate professor in the WCVM’s Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences, Machin is a resident of the American College of Veterinary Behaviorists. Her mentor is Dr. Sagi Denenberg, a board-certified veterinary behaviorist based in Richmond Hill, Ont.
Machin’s professional focus integrates physiology and behaviour, with particular interest in animal learning, body language, and evidence-based training approaches that are grounded in positive reinforcement.
In addition to her roles at the WCVM, Machin is co-founder of New Hope Dog Rescue, a Saskatoon-based organization dedicated to fostering and rehoming neglected and unwanted dogs.
