Urethral obstruction in male cats

Do you have (or had) a male cat diagnosed with a urethral obstruction (urinary blockage) that was treated medically (without surgery)? Our research team wants to learn more about your experience through an online survey.

As a voluntary participant in this study, our team will ask you to complete an online anonymous survey that will take about 30 to 45 minutes to complete. Information collected though this survey will be used for research purposes aimed at improving at home care and prevention of feline urinary blockage.

Researchers are particularly interested in your experience with advice pertaining to home care: food, water, litter box management, individual space, social interactions and engagement in natural feline behaviour.

The survey is open to:

  • any cat owner over the age of 18 years
  • any cat owner living with a cat diagnosed with urethral obstruction

This study has been approved by the University of Saskatchewan Behavioural Research Ethics Board. Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary and all of your responses will be kept strictly confidential.
