Obesity can decrease lifespan and affect the quality of life for people as well as their cats and dogs. Bruce was only two and a half years old when he came to the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC) with severe hip problems that required surgery. However, due to his high body fat percentage, he needed to lose weight first. Under the guidance of the VMC’s clinical nutrition service, Bruce’s owners ensured he had regular exercise and ate healthy food with adequate nutrients and protein.

After eight months, Bruce had lost 20 per cent of his body fat and gained enough muscle that he no longer required surgery. Click here to read Bruce’s story.
